No B.S., no filler, only the real s**t. Our first club show of the season takes us to Boveda in Andheri where we’ll have a return of the Bhavishyavani Future Soundz showcase (recently seen at Magnetic Fields Festival, NH7 Weekender and KRANK). Friday’s showcase features M.MAT and SpaceJams at the controls. We start at 8pm and we’re non-stop till closing time. Come around for the sound of the underground.
Need introductions? Here you go:
It’s been more than a decade of Mathieu Josso aka M.MAT championing what heads refer to as the underground sound – classic, almost-institutional house and techno. And in contrast, just a couple of years since his DJ Mag India top 5 ranking. In the interim, M.Mat has held court as principal leader aboard the cosmonaut Bhavishyavani Future Soundz collective in Bombay, showcasing and delivering from that hallowed space in where the boundaries of contemporary electronic music meet the undying spirit of the old-school and proceed to make holy, intergalactic love. In the past M.MAT has put together events for and performed alongside artists such as Mathew Jonson, Laurent Garnier, Dixon, Chloe, dOP, MANDY, DJ Koze, to name just a scratch. M.MAT’s multifaceted DJing style blends vintage dance music jams and fresh, elastic beats engineered for dispatch any time of day.
To prick India’s electronic scene is to instigate an unhealthy bout of hyperventilation and rants on its true origins. A few artists along that bloodline speak lucidly, for the music alone. SpaceJams, or as some would call him, Yohann Jamsandekar, is one of those artists – fun loving, laconic, and always ready for the night.
His appreciation for varied genres of music can be traced back to many dynamic events in the past. To anyone familiar with his eclectic taste in music, this should come as little surprise. Known for blending tracks of various genres ranging from early acid house, pounding techno, unadulterated tech, bass, new wave, indie dance, disco,His music has a journey to offer with deep, sophisticated, fresh, grimey sounds.
